Apple, Major U.S. Carriers Partner to Offer 200GB of Free iCloud Storage

As Apple gears up to announce a trio of new iPhone models and more in just over two-weeks time, the company has launched an enticing new promotion which hopes to get more people using its iCloud service to backup their data.

In close cooperation with America’s four largest wireless service providers (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint), Apple is now offering select customers looking to upgrade their available iCloud storage with two months iCloud’s 200-gigabyte (GB) tier plan for free.

Details and Eligibility

As initially spotted over on an Apple-centric Reddit discussion board this morning, the promotion isn currently available only to new, paying iCloud customers.

The promotion is meant to ensure new customers “have enough space to safely back up all the important things on your iPhone, like photos, videos, files, and apps,” the company said, noting that iCloud data can be restored quickly and easily to a new iPhone, iPad or macOS device.

To access the deal, check eligibility and sign-up for the promo, click here and follow the onscreen instructions upon iTunes launching.

(NOTE: The link provided above appears to only mention Sprint by name, however the promo is verified to be active for eligible customers with service on any of the big four carriers — Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint.)

Apple additionally notes that those who sign-up for this limited-time promo will be charged per the usual iCloud monthly payment schedule once their two free months of service expires, unless cancelled beforehand.

Everything Apple in the Cloud

While the inherent promotion is offering two free months of 200 GB iCloud storage — a $5.98 value, at the standard rate of $2.99 per month for the 200 GB plan — it’s worth pointing out that this actually represents the second major iCloud promotion Apple has offered recently, as part of its clear bid to get more customers taking advantage of its safe, secure, and heavily-encrypted cloud-based storage platform.

In addition to this promo, Apple is also currently offering a 30-day free trial of all its paid iCloud storage tiers, which, in the United States, include the .99 cents per month for 50 gigabytes plan, $2.99 per month for 200 GB plan, or $9.99 per month for the top-tier 2 terabyte (2,000 GB) plan.

Of course, every iCloud account comes standard with just 5 GB of storage — hardly enough for most users who enjoy capturing photos and videos on the fly, or carrying their favorite music and video playlists with them wherever they go. Between this and its other ongoing iCloud promotion, Apple is offering wary or unconvinced customers a unique and cost-saving opportunity to try iCloud for themselves  — with very few strings attached — ahead of its bold new devices launching next month.

As a slate of reports and analyses have confirmed by now, Apple is not only just weeks away from launching three game-changing new iPhone models, but also new iPad Pros, at least six (6) new Apple Watch Series 4 and much more — making it a great time indeed to see if extra iCloud storage is ideal for your needs.
