Prominent personality are often featured in the textbooks so that the children can learn about them and take inspiration. We grew up reading about Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Swami Vivekananda etc. But, what if a glaring error can change the image of that personality?
Yes, recently the same incident happened where actor Farhan Akhtar’s image was published as the legendary athlete Milkha Singh, popularly known as the ‘Flying Sikh’, in a West Bengal textbook. Well, this incident happened because Farhan played the role of the sprinter in the 2013 superhit Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
As soon as, he came to know about this, he took to his twitter account and urged the West Bengal’s Minister of School Education that the books be recalled and replaced. He wrote: “To the Minister of School Education, West Bengal.
There is a glaring error with the image used in one of the school text books to depict Milkha Singh-ji. Could you please request the publisher to recall and replace this book? Sincerely. @derekobrienmp”

Farhan Akhtar in his tweet also tagged Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien and he retweets him and said,”On it. Thanks for the feedback.” Well, his tweet else collected over 1,700 ‘likes’ and more than 400 retweets. Like, one Twitter user asked,”What were they thinking?” while other said, “Maybe the publisher is just a huge fan of yours.”
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was based on the legendary sprinter’s life and also starred Divya Dutta, Meesha Shafi, Pavan Malhotra and Art Malik in supporting roles.
