Android Pie has been here a while now, and while some device makers got an update out the door straight away, others have taken their time to roll out the update, even if they were a part of Google’s beta program. One company to take their time is OnePlus, though now we’re finally getting the first release of the OnePlus 6‘s Open Beta program based on Android 9. Android 9 Pie is here, and you can download and flash it on your OnePlus 6 right now.
OxygenOS Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 6 released
OnePlus has been working on incorporating all of OxygenOS’s features into Android Pie’s Developer Previews to varying degrees of success. It really did work quite well all things considered, so we can only expect even better things from the first Open Beta for the OnePlus 6. You can check out the whole changelog below.
As you can see, it’s a pretty large update. On top of all of that, obviously, you get all of Android Pie’s newest features as well. That includes the new recent app switcher, new Material Design interface, Adaptive Battery, and more! You can choose between OnePlus’ gestures, Android Pie’s gestures, or the stock three-button navigation buttons. The accent color customization came in an earlier Android P beta, and the Gaming Mode 3.0 just arrived on the latest beta for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.
Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 6 is not without its issues though, as there are a couple of known problems with it so far.
- Some applications may not function as expected when running on this beta version
- Google Pay service is not working
- Google Play Store might show “Device is not Certified by Google”
Other than that, if you’re interested you can flash it on your device and give it a go! On previous OnePlus devices, the company got out a new Open Beta release about once or twice a month. Check out the flashing instructions below.
